The Greater Vidalia® Chamber has implemented a new event series entitled “State of the Community” and our first program of this series was “State of the Cities” held Thursday, March 2nd at the Lyons First Baptist Church. City officials from both Lyons and Vidalia highlighted current projects and future plans for both communities including roadway and property improvements, water lines and meters, an update on the new golf course, the airport, public safety, behavioral health assistance, and homelessness.
“The whole purpose of creating the State of Community series is to not only provide a platform for local officials, organizations and authorities to update our citizens on matters of importance, but also to help raise civic awareness on how and why decisions are made. An informed community is a strong community; we could not be more pleased with the results of our first event and are very excited for future programs”, said Ann Owens, Director of Community Development for the Chamber and Development Authority.
Future events in the series will be:
State of Social Services – August 10th
State of Industry – October 5th
