The first program of the 2024 State of the Community series was “State of the Cities and County” held Thursday, September 5th at the Lyons First Baptist Church. Officials from the cities of Lyons and Vidalia as well as Toombs County highlighted current projects and future plans for both communities including roadway and property improvements, water lines and meters, an update on the new golf course, public safety, ordinance updates, behavioral health assistance, and homelessness.
“The whole purpose of creating the State of Community series is to not only provide a platform for local officials, organizations and authorities to update our citizens on matters of importance, but also to help raise civic awareness on how and why decisions are made. An informed community is a strong community; we are proud to be able to offer this series as a product of the Public Policy Council”, said Mike Hagan, Chairman of the Greater Vidalia® Chamber’s Public Policy Council.
Future events in the series will be:
State of Education – October 3rd
State of Agriculture – November 7th
