Our Greater Vidalia® Youth Leadership class had their Economic Development session last week and toured different parts of the community that all have an impact on improving the quality of life and income for our community! We are nearing the end of our program, but the students have learned so much about community so far!
We started our day out touring the programs at Southeastern Technical College and learned how they train the workforce that our industries need. We then went to one of largest industries in Toombs County, Trane Technologies. The students were able to learn how they operated and were able to do a tour of the manufacturing floor. A class favorite stop was the Vidalia Regional Airport where they learned about the different businesses that use our airport and got to see a takeoff and flight by Derek Park, one of our co-chairs for the program and pilot. After lunch we toured another one of our larger industries, Dot Foods, the students were fantasticated with their -5-degree coolers! This year we added in an additional stop at the Lyons Wastewater Treatment with a tour hosted by Jason Hall. And last but certainly not least, we ended the day at the Greater Vidalia®
Chamber hearing from Mrs. Michele Johnson!
