On Thursday, January 9th, the Greater Vidalia ® Chamber hosted the first event of the year, the 2025 Legislative Luncheon. This event gives constituents in the Greater Vidalia® area the opportunity to hear from their elected officials right before they head off to Atlanta for session of the Georgia Assembly. State Representative Leesa Hagan and State Senator Blake Tillery were on hand to discuss topics that they expect to be brought up during session and discuss bills that they will be working on. Rep. Hagan feels strongly that there will be discussion again on cottage licensing in the state as well as a movement for restructuring professional licensing. By making it easier for those with skilled licensing in other states to move into Georgia and go directly to work, the legislature would be significantly impacting a workforce issue. Senator Tillery’s focus of this legislative session will be delivering a balanced budget to the State as the Senate appropriations Chairman once again. He also supports Governor Kemp’s initiative for corrections reform and looks to see legislation passed through both chambers.
The Greater Vidalia® Chamber is dedicated to keeping our area a great place to do business and raise a family. We appreciate our elected officials taking the time to speak about pressing issues and we will stay abreast of any issues that may arise in the Legislature through our Public Policy Council. This event was held in partnership with presenting sponsor Optim Medical Center- Tattnall and gold sponsors, A and M Farms, Tar Land and Timber, and Terry’s Flooring and Blinds.
